   Recently I bought a WMF pressure cooker set. They are German made, and quality of construction is great. You would expect them to last a lifetime.Pressure cookers week point, however, is the lid gasket, made of some elastomer (rubber, silicone, etc), so you would expect it to age over time (2-3 years should be normal). This model of pressure cooker has the lid gasket, a silicone seal for the cooking pressure indicator, and a rubber safety valve body. As this are the most likely parts to fail at some point leading to vapor leaks, I bought them all three for over 22 usd + shipping + tax.Even though there might be pricier gaskets for some other cookers on the market , I think WMF should sell a more affordable spare kit, which includes these 3 items, at a more affordable price.Good thing is you can find all the spares you need for this pressure cooker on amazon (lid, handles, gaskets, etc).

   This is exactly the factory part for WMF pressure cookers. I am glad I am now able to extend the life of my pressure cooker, but I wish it wasn’t so expensive for such a small rubber part. Anyways, for those wondering if this is a copy or the real thing, it is the “real” thing.

   Worst product !! It looked o.k. at first glance but when I push the middle of the seal with a finger to inspect it, I found a huge crack that was hidden. Also, the surface of the seal is very rough with burrs and nicks. I ordered a replacement and the replacement had exactly the same problems. I returned it, and the seller received it, but no refund was made until I ask Amazon to involve.
