A bit flimsy, but it does work as advertised

I was very anxious to get a English and bagel cutter. It does cut very good but I find it difficult to hold the bagel sturdy against the front of cutter. You really need a long serrated knife to slice item fortunately I have one

I wanted to see if I would use a bread slicer a lot before I got a more expensive one.I use this weekly, and while it gets the job done, there’s a lot of room for improvement. I’m the plastics a little thin and also not wide enough in the slice cavities for my standard bread knife thickness.

We have started baking homemade bread so, my wife ordered this tool and it helps you to get equal slices every time.It is easy to clean — I just use hot water and the high pressure sprayer on our kitchen sink. The only issue I have is that the plastic “slots” that your knife goes through are flexible instead of rigid. Don’t get me wrong, the plastic is not so flimsy that I or my wife are in fear of breaking it but I have teenagers (creatures who can’t open a box of cereal without making it look like it was mauled by a bear) with the uncanny knack of accidentally breaking things.I would like this item better if it were made of stronger plastic.Hopefully, this review was helpful to you.

I like that it’s compact and offers thinner slicing options than the bamboo models. After using this, I think I see why the bamboo models are so popular. Using this is a messy job. The crumb catcher really is a very big deal and this does not have it. My bamboo slicer arrives tomorrow. Plus if you have a tall loaf, this slicer won’t work well, if at all.

It unfolds easily and folds up nicely, easy to rinse and clean, and the guides are tall enough for 5 1/2″ home-made loafs. However, being plastic it’s light, a little flimsy, and slides around easily – you almost need 3 hands – one to hold the bread in position in the guide, another to hold the guide from sliding around while cutting, and a third to actually cut the bread. I expect it would work much better using an electric knife.

This thing is so flimsy that it’s not worth it. Spend a little bit more and get one of the bamboo ones that will actually work and be sturdy enough to guide the knife.
