the neck that goes in the mixer came as a square profile with only let it go 1/3 of the way into seating in the mixer. I used a bandfile sander to taper the neck, and a center punch and drill to make the new set screw seat. the tolerances on shaft length of the worm shaft mean that the attachment doesnt/shouldnt go flush into the mixer port. we had meat waiting, so there wasnt time for a return or anything – i had to make it work so the meat didnt ruin. the finish of the metal housing (aluminum?) is just weird, almost like it was electroplated – poorly. My enthusiasm for the result of how well the device works is why the 4 star rating despite some serious issues. once modified – it works beautifully, but i do not expect most people would be up to modifying it like i did. If i hadnt gotten the taper and new set seat just right, I imagine it would have been a clunky mess. the plates on mine did discolor, but did not insta-rust like others have stated. i cleaned them well, dried them well, and oiled them with a little clean olive oil. ground beef roast for burger with the 4 armed blade and the medium plate with the mixer on speed 4, and had the cubed meat chilled in freezer for 30 min before grinding. I did not put the grinder in the freezer, there was no need. processed about 25 lbs, grinding twice. not sure what the 2 armed blade is for yet.

Ground beef that had a lot of fat and the unit had a little problem with it, as I used chilled meat, as the directions suggested. Some more help with grinding would have been helpful.

Look, it’s not the manufacturers fault. I put the thing in the dishwasher. It does say somewhere in the documentation that it is not dishwasher safe, but I missed it. The result was actually pretty interesting. All of the plating disappeared, and I was left with a black powdery substance on everything. Scrubbing just made it worse.Despite my screwup, though, I wouldn’t recommend this product. I bought the actual Kitchenaid model next, and they don’t even compare. The difference in quality is obvious. I’ve used the Kitchenaid extensively now, and I can confidently say that it was worth the extra money.I’m not telling you not to buy this. It’s a good value if you don’t plan to rely on the thing for anything serious. For light users, it might be totally fine. If you buy it, just remember- it’s not dishwasher safe!

The good, bad and UGLY! Okay, fair is fair…it worked VERY well to re-grind semi-thawed ground beef so that I could try to make smashburgers. I have no doubt that it would grind meat just fine and do what it is designed to do when connected to the KitchenAid stand mixer that we bought from Costco. I pre-washed ALL of the blades and parts by hand immediately upon opening the box. The food tray portion is very thin tin or aluminum but is coated in a shiny metal finish as well as the rounded tube that the meat comes out of. Very thin, very cheap and definitely from China if that matters to anyone? The round steel disks with the numerous holes are straight steel and the ABSOLUTLY WILL RUST if you do not hand wash and completely dry them by hand right away. I left a few drops of water on one of the disks overnight to dry and they were coated in orange surface rust the next morning where the water droplets were the night before. I hand scrubbed the disk with a kitchen sponge scrubby thingy and was able to remove most of the surface rust but it left behind a dull metal colored stain. No big deal but DO NOT LET THESE stay wet or they will look like junk and you will have orange meat run through on the next go. As far as cleaning goes, I thought it was rather easy to clean out everything by immediately running it all under hot water with the spray nozzle from the sink. I did not feel there was a need to run the pipe cleaner through each of the holes on the metal disk but I did for good measure and it was pretty quick IMO. The flimsyness of the materials used on the tray and the tube really don’t affect the performance but it just feels exactly as cheap as this setup is so don’t expect to be impressed with the aesthetics. If you put this stuff in the dishwasher, expect it to immediately dull the finish to an antiqued junk finish and I suspect this will get worse and worse over time. This is not a trophy piece that you will leave on your mixer while not in use I assure you. I am returning mine and going to look for something more substantial that hopefully has disks that don’t rust. Maybe my expectations are too high on that though? In one of the photos attached you will see the finish difference between the sausage tubes (NOT washed in dishwasher) and the tray and tube.

Some of the parts lose their shine after using. It grinds chicken well, but leaves some in the grinder. It does come with a great brush to help clean it after use. Great product for the cost!

Frankly I was expecting to return it. But it isn’t bad. Very light duty. But it fits together. Fits the kitchen aid (some have trouble with that. Probably cheap process or multiple models that aren’t packaged well) . The body weighs almost nothing. Be sure to treat it gently. Very thin.Instruction manual isn’t verbose but it is in fairly decent English.Good enough for the price. Don’t get it if you’re going to be doing heavy use.

This grinder arrived quickly, was easy to clean and assemble and ran smoothly grinding turkey meat on our new Kitchenaid mixer. We had already gone through two Kitchenaid brand grinders and on both the plastic body cracked under stress, and they don’t come with all the attachments that this new one did. The aluminum on this grinder is much thinner than the plastic ones so I’m wondering how long it will last. Deer season has a while to go so we will find out.
