Itโs Me Again –
In the package I bought it had 3 units. I thought the first one was defective… I pumped it up after pouring out my soda, not over doing it but not leaving a ton of space for air. When I went to open the soda again after my drink was empty the Fizz-Keeper almost popped off the top by itself it had so much fizz in it. I opened the second fizz keeper and didn’t have the same problem til a day or two ago.Well now I have to under pump it, it seems that the 2 liter will help keep the carbon going by itself not just with the Fizz-Keeper. Even with under pumping it by the next day the air is still pretty tight, if you try to squeeze the 2 liter it will feel like you’ve never opened it.If you over do the pumping please be careful, it sounds like an extremely loud wine cork almost when it pops and if your hand is not securely on the device I imagine it will shoot up in the air.Bottom line: Does it keep fizz? ABSOLUTELY, my soda will stay fresh over a week with the Fizz-Keeper, just be careful how you pump!

Despite another reviewer’s seeming dedication to scientifically proving that these things can’t possibly work, they do. However, they fail quickly and there is no warranty, and I got zero response from the manufacturer. I bought my first one in April of 2011, and it failed in November, having lasted seven months. All of the sudden pumping met no resistance. (By the way, you don’t have to pump these up very much. The bottle doesn’t need to be firm. Just give it a few pumps. That’s enough.) I then ordered a three-pack from Amazon. The first one lasted only two months before it failed. So I got on Jokari’s website and emailed them, enquiring whether there is a guarantee of any kind. I got no response. (There is nothing on the packaging about a warranty.) After waiting several days for an email response, I called them. I got an answering machine and left a message. It has been more than a week now, and I have not received a call-back. So, for me, the low-down is that I will see how long these final two keep working. Then I will decide whether, on average, the length of service I get from them justifies the average cost. I do, unfortunately, drink soda. But not enough that a two liter bottle wouldn’t go flat before it is used up. The manufacturer of these things seems to be a prime example of a grab-the-money-and-run outfit. Too bad. As far as I know, they have the only product of this kind on the market. They could take the high road: make these things more durable, follow through on customer service, and they would be doing something good in the marketplace, even charging a little more. But that is not the business plan they have chosen. If I think of it, once these last two have failed, I’ll follow up in this review, giving the average cost over time for four Fizz-Keepers.

I bought a pack of these several years ago. I have used those a lot and none of them failed. But the bottle cap threads and the bottle cap size changed a couple years ago and to use the old ones I had to remove the ring left by the cap. So I stopped waiting for these to wear out and bought a new pack of them. The new ones also work great and have been redesigned to fit the new standard bottom top/cap/opening. Once the bottle is down to about 2/3rds full you do have to do a fair number of pumps to pump it up to a good effective pressure. The more you pump it the better it will keep the fizz. I’ve found the best way to judge “have I pumped enough” is to squeeze the top sloped part of the bottle with your thumb while pumping. When you can’t really push that part in much you have probably pumped it enough. If you can still easily push it in you need to pump it some more. I’ve had half empty bottles sit in my fridge for three weeks and they were still very fizzy when opened, so don’t listen to people who say this can’t work because it uses air. It does work as hundreds of satisfied users attest.

Perhaps I need to take a physics course, and I’ll learn how to operate this. I’m calling my friend, Mr. Hawking, as soon as this review is done – which will be pretty fast.I’ve had these for a week. And I don’t notice that they keep my Pepsi any more carbonated than before. Everyone DOES know Pepsi goes flat faster than any other drink, right? Good. Now, to address other posters: there is nothing on the cardboard holding Mr. Fizzy in place that says you cannot put it into a bottle once you’ve opened it. I believe the other poster, I’m just pointing out that a product that works does not usually require a degree in whatever subject it is. It either does what it says or it doesn’t. (Imagine buying new tires and they don’t “ride” well when you have 1 pound less air in them than the car manufacturer tells you. It may not be the BEST ride, but you feel the road less – and HEAR it less, too.)I tend to think, “Well, let me try it on a few bottles.” So, I got 1 liter and 2 liter Pepsi (actually 2 of the 2 liter Pepsi [ gotta be scientific!!] and had a friend taste them. His take? “They’re still kinda flat.” And we’ve been drinking Pepsi for 60 years, so unless BOTH our taste buds have gone bad, it ain’t us, folks. Maybe the youngsters’ taste buds work better, but carbonation? That’s like not being able to tell when your champagne has gone flat.Flat out: doesn’t do exactly what it says. Even pumped it as one review said: 12 times when fuller, 1,000 times when flat (that’s a joke, folks). Still flatter. The product is flatter than the product it’s supposed to prevent from GOING FLAT! So says The ‘Ol Timer…

I had one of these for many years which was thicker plastic and pumped more air with each stroke. Original was “Pampered Chef” brand which I can no longer find. The older one lost its washer seal after much use. I since found an O-ring that I’ve replaced it with and it still works great. Several other reviews talked about the washer breaking on the Jokari model so might suggest O-ring as replacement.

Really does work and keeps soft drinks ‘fizzy’ for days. Highly recommended. Bought 3 and will probably get more…

Pro: Like the ability to keep 2 liter bottle fizzy when not used up in a dayCon: takes a lot of pumping to get to pressure, can pinch fingers if not careful
