Does what it says on the tin. Dog took a chunk out of the original gasket causing it to fail to seal properly. Ordered this off-brand replacement since Fagor has gone bust, I love the cooker, and didn’t want to shell out another couple of hundred for a whole new cooker, also sending another bulky product to landfill when it’s only a small part that has failed. Was a bit concerned with other reviews saying the fit of this replacement gasket isn’t quite right, but in my experience this product substitutes well for the original. Cooker is now back in full service (phew!).

Good price and you get two gaskets. Check your thickness before you buy. Mine was 5/8″ thick but the ones I got are 1/2″ and DID NOT FIT tightly in my Fagor Splendid Plaksteel 18/10 cooker. Picture shows original one on left and the new one on the right which is slightly thinner.

I installed the rubber in the lid of the pressure cooker and tried cooking the meat to make it tender. I was disappointed since there is a leak coming out of the lid and took me about an hour and a half to for my meat to get tender. Donโt know why thereโs a leak. I bought the right size of rubber.

The original Fagor gasket was torn and needed replacement. with the Fagor Company defunct, I am forced to use this too-small replacement gasket. The Replacement 10″Sealing Ring is slightly smaller than the original Fagor Gasket but with water in the pressure cooker, the seal leaked during the first few minutes (leaking down the sides) and then held. The next attempt at using the new gasket with water and the steamer basket in the pressure cooker, the seal seamed to hold but the results were abnormal. The pressure button raised but then fell down again until I turned up the heat to higher than normal. After the cooking was completed, the water was nearly gone (it had been filled up to the line). I know not whether the increased temperature or the seal was the problem. Either way, I have used this pressure cooker for many years with the original gasket with normal functioning.

I bought this in April 22 and only used one of the gaskets this October. The item shows it to be a tan color (as is the original Fagor gasket ring) and I got a package of 2 in light gray. Color shouldn’t matter but I tried it twice and the ring does not seal and almost lost my 3.5 lb pot roast as all the water was leaking. I had water dripping from the edge of the lid the whole time no matter how hot I turned the element. The original Fagor gasket is 5/8″ and this one is 9/16″, slightly thinner. Thanks to my skepticism, I didn’t throw the old one out, cooled and opened it for the third time, put the old one back in the Fagor lid and the pressure rose fast. Also, thank goodness the return window doesn’t close “til January 23, I am returning it. I still need to replace the gasket so I will keep looking as Fagor is defunct now.
