OK I really want to love this, but itโs about a 1/4 inch to narrow for the loaves that my Hamilton Beach bread machine. Even with the 1.5 lb loaf.So if your machine makes skinny loaves this is EXACTLY what you need.

I love this slicing guide but it has one tiny issue. the vertical guides are not rigid enough to stay straight when you lean the knife a little while cutting. So obviously the slot for the knife to slide down is bigger than the blade cause otherwise it wouldnt work. That means if you cut your first slice with the knife against the front of the guide it will give you a certain size slice. Then if you cut your next slice towards the back of the slot you get a tiny bit bigger slice (which ive found is about perfect for sandwich bread thickness if you go against the back of the guide every time). The problem is if you push any on the guide while youre cutting you get a thin slice, then a wavy texas toast slice on the next. But other than that tiny issue (which you could chalk up to inexperience with the device too) its great. I got it to go with my 12″ long, 4″ wide, 4″ tall, pans. But the first loaf my girlfriend made was a liiiiitle bit tall and it stuck over the top of this by about 2 inches. The guides bending actually helped me in that situation because they formed around the loaf and held it very well.

The slicer is pretty well made and sturdy. Ir should last a long time. The thickness of the slices is about the same as most store-bought bread.

If you want nice consistent bread slices for making sandwiches…this is for you! No splintering like wood does. My only complaint is that it took me time to figure out how to stand the sides up. My husband figured it out for me. The instructions were not clear. I would buy another…but, it would help if they were more clear on folding it up and back for storage.

I had one pretty much like it for about 20 years. I love this type because it folds up almost flat to fit in my cupboard and is easy to use. And it helps to slice even sized slices that fit into the toaster with ease!

I have a Zojirushi bread maker that makes small and 2 lb loaves. My large loaf fits in this nicely.I like a combination of thin and thick slices, thin slices for sandwiches and thick slices for my morning toast. I had been using one of those smaller whites cutting guides that has a spacer that you can choose thin, medium or thick slices but the problem with that thing is it moves around too much and it’s difficult to hold on to the loaf and keep that still so you can cut an even slice. This new cutting guide solves that problem. I see reviews saying you can’t get an even slice and I think you can tell from my pictures that my thin slices are as even as can be, same with the thicker ones. After seating the loaf I started cutting from the end that traps the loaf in. The guide fingers are a heavy enough plastic but can still be pushed out of place so I was careful to start slicing right at the guide edge, sawing/slicing straight down with minimum pressure because it’s bread not something you need to be pushing down hard on. Maybe it’s because I’m not pushing against the guides so there’s no reason for my knife to be digging into it, I saw no issue with any plastic coming off and my serrated bread knife is ridiculously sharp. Cutting on each slicer space gives a nice thin slice of bread, every other slot is a nice thick width, and that’ll be the size that I use for french toast and regular breakfast toast. It cleans up easily and folds back up on itself for easy storage.

Easy to use to cut our home made bread. Slices are even.

Unless the bread loaf fits snuggly the loaf moves around causing slice width variances. I mean alot of slice thicknes variances. U must learn how the knife ur using cuts each slice. The knife I use is sharpened on two sides but it tends to pull the entire loaf to one side. So to compensate this fact I must cut on the bias, alot. This way the uncut loaf sort of stays in place while slicing. I still must hold the loaf as steady as possible or I get a real bad slice. But after 3 loaves of bread I’m getting the hang of it. I GET SIXTEEN SLICES OF BREAD PER 7″ Pullman bread loaf. I think thats fantastic. Hand slicing my other breads in the past I was hoping for 8 to 12 irregularly sliced bread. So this has definitely increased the accuracy of cutting each slice making each slice equal to the next slice. They are a little thinner then I would like but hey I cant complain about 16 slices plus u could skip a slot on this so as to make a thicker slice but then the slice is way too big. @ that thicknee it would be great for french toast. Anyway I’ve been slicing homemade bread by hand for 30 years and I thought it would be nice to have a helping hand @ slicing. I studied the gauntlet of bread slicers out there and figured I’d test this one. (The best one I could find for my needs). And I’m satisfied with the final product (which is what it really comes down to) so this is a keeper. O yeah one more thing, I DO NOT US A SERRATED KNIFE. that shreds the bread so u will lose alot of bread that cant be used. I use a 12″ razor sharp knife that does have a little trouble initiating the cut thru the top crust but after that its a smooth clean cut and I recommend using straight edged knife not a “bread knife” as everybody calls a serrated knife edge. Is store bought bread torn into slices ? Of course not. Just keep ur knife sharp and ur bread will look like a “professionally” sliced loaf of bread. Enjoy!
